Translations are usually required and must be official: in Italy, this means a sworn translation (asseverazione), while in England a certified translation is generally sufficient.
Legalisation through an apostille is often necessary under the Hague Convention, with Italian documents legalised by the Prefettura or Procura, and English documents by the UK Foreign Office. Notarisation or solicitor certification may also be needed, especially for declarations or powers of attorney. Fees often apply, and in Italy some professionals must charge fixed rates by law.
